A golfing experience with historic beauty
Nestling in the River Eden valley, below the hills straddling the
counties of Kent, Surrey and Sussex, the 18 hole Kings & Queens
course, which opened in June 1992, plays host to the Kent PGA Championship.
It measures 7002 yards (6328 metres) at its full length, par being
72 (SS74), with a course record of 68.
Few clubs can boast such an array of stunning
holes, which will test the most accomplished golfer and inspire the
less experienced. The 2nd overlooks historic Hever Castle and the
water holes, the 5th, 6th, 11th, 12th and 13th, are real feature holes.
However, the hole that most golfers talk about is the 17th which,
at 644 yards off the championship tee, is one of the longest holes
in Europe.
The 9 hole Princes Course opened in June 1998. Although not as long
as the other nines, it provides a good test of golf for players of
all abilities. Accuracy is the key, especially on the two par 3 holes
both played across water. |
